I suppose the "logic" (if you can call it that) of the Daily Mail's use of this trope is that multiculturalism has thrown out all the social rules (rules about 'keeping to your own kind', maybe) and if we're going to embrace a multicultural society, we might as well be... marrying sheep. Because presumably, embracing multiculturalism is about as natural as fucking a sheep. If you're a Daily Mail cartoonist, that is. Actually, now I've started thinking about it it's even more disgustingly racist than it seemed when I first saw it. In another 'hilarious' political cartoon, he depicted a man trying to get a marriage license with a sheep. This was around the time that New Jersey was debating whether to pass a gay marriage bill. As toxic as it is, it at least makes sense in the hysterical 'slippery slope' argument that gay marriage = bestiality.
