No sense of humour
Sometimes it's confusing. You get told that Iain Dale is Britain's leading blogger, which he is, but then he comes out with stuff that's just weird, which makes you wonder why so many people read him every day.
First he slags off Jack Jones when the corpse is still warm. Fair enough, I guess.
Then he says the Left need to get a sense of humour. Fair enough, I guess, though I have to confess he's never raised a smile with me except for when he genuinely thinks Nadine Dorries or John Redwood is intelligent. Then I piss myself.
Yet when Mark Thomas, with a sense of humour, decides to get ready to celebrate Thatcher's death, he gets all touchy and calls it 'sick'. Tch.
Come on Iain, what are we supposed to do? Get a sense of humour, man!

Poor Iain. Was there ever a bigger prong? He doesn’t know what’s going to hit him the day Thatcher dies. Some of the stuff’s going to make Mark Thomas’ postcard look like a sincere and heartfelt tribute.

Can anyone name a funny right-wing comedian, with the exception perhaps of P J O’Rourke? I can’t say I know where this idea comes from that the left is so humourless and po-faced; it doesn’t tally with any genuine look at a wide range of either blogs or individuals, but then that seems beyond Iain Dale in any case.

You mean to tell us septicisle that you’ve never caught The ½ Hour News Hour, the American Right’s hilarious answer to The Daily Show? Absolutely stuffed with Grade A right-wing comedy talent. It’s got all the stars, Anne Coulter, Dennis Miller. I defy you to look at Rush Limbaugh without laughing.
