Don’t call racists racists, you’ll only upset them

...says Hazel Blears, vying with Phil Woolas for the title of 'most pandering to cunts' minister in the Brown government:

A lack of "open and honest discussion" about the impact of immigration among politicians locally and nationally had created fertile ground for rumours spread by far-right groups about preferential treatment being given to ethnic minorities.
Blears warned that white people's concerns about the effects of immigration should not simply be branded "racist", as this would simply alienate them even more.

Yet Blears herself says these are people who aren't actually adversely affected by immigration yet complain about it, and who have been given council houses yet wrongly complain that foreigners get them first. What the fuck is that apart from racism?

Are we seeing a new political correctness, where you can't call a racist a racist? In which case might I suggest it truly has gone mad.

Anyway, read that story for the Guardian's take. The Mail/Express will spin it out of control with "At last, what we all knew, and now the government admits it - darkies get council houses first! How about that ZaNuLab?" comments spiralling away underneath. Ah, the joy of it.

  1. Day 2 in the Big Bugger House and we’re already onto the favourite Mail topic. Nothing like preserving traditions, eh?

  2. You know I think Blears does actually have a point here, but the fault is still with her. I don’t think she’s pandering to racists at all but in fact doing what I have been saying politicians should have been doing for years, and that is standing up to the Mail and co.

Many people do honestly BELIEVE that imigrants gets priority on housing and get benefits etc when half of what they believe is bull shit. And the reason they believe it is that the tabloids tell them this crap.

Blears and co should have stood up to the tabloids many years ago and explained in idiot proof language the truth. She has dug herself into a hole and is now, belatedly, trying to climb out of it.
