Enemies of Reason Poundshop potshots at the media moral maze.

I can’t wait for the reply to this:

Dear Mr Nicks,
Re: your headline "IMMIGRANTS HAVE STOLEN ALL OUR JOBS" (Daily Star, 16/12/08):
My husband and I have both started new jobs within the last six months, in the education and IT sectors respectively. However, as your subtitle helpfully informs me, "1.3M migrants took EVERY Brit vacancy since 2001!". Therefore, we must clearly both be migrants. We never knew!
Since we are both patriotic souls, having made this discovery, we wish to follow the advice so regularly spouted by your pustulent rag and "go back where we came from" as promptly as possible. Sadly, however, we are finding it somewhat difficult to discover precisely where we should "go". We were both born in the UK. His ancestry is traceably British back to William the Conqueror. Mine is traceably British back to Charles I, after which records are somewhat muddy. Perhaps you could assist us in this endeavour? Should he perhaps emigrate to France? Do you know if there is an exchange program to receive back "migrants" like us, and if so, if there is any provision for spouses? As for myself - I have some American ancestry - might you
offer advice on applying for a Green Card under circumstances such as my own?
With thanks in advance for your generous assistance, and the fervent hope that you soon lose your job and find yourself on the dole queue, to be replaced by a Polish, Indian or African immigrant - who, I have no doubt, will display less ignorant fascism and far greater numeracy than you -
Regards,
Mrs H. Walter
Oxford

Magnificent.

  1. It appears that good lady reads Penny Red. Excellent taste in blogs.

  2. *cough* Rather the other way around.

Penny Red reads the good lady (see latest edit to Penny Red’s post header).

    :)

  3. Indeed. Apologies for my implication.

  4. Yup, Helen and Laura posted their stuff before mine. I have many original thoughts. This was definitely not one of them. However, it IS important.
