Jacqui: It’s a crushing defeat, but I’ll sneak it through later, don’t you worry

I deeply regret that some have been prepared to ignore the terrorist threat, for fear of taking a tough but necessary decision.

Or, to put it another way: Waaaaah! Waaaaaaah! You haven't let me do what I want so I'm going to stamp my feet and get all angry! Waaaaah! Waaaaaaah!

Not to worry, though; last night's landslide in favour of ditching 42 days has been utterly ignored by Smith, who is determined to press ahead with the much-hated plan, but will wait for some unspecified terrorist incident in the future in order to fast-track it through while the corpses are still cold:

Ms Smith said instead the measure would be in a separate piece of legislation to be brought to Parliament if needed.

So it's the end of 42 for now, but she's made it clear she'll try and sneak it through under the barbed wire in the aftermath of any forthcoming atrocity. Well, you have to say that's honest, at least.
