Let’s rig it for Ted Heath

As Unity points out, it's a faintly pointless exercise of Newsnight's to ask us to vote for our favourite post-war Prime Minister, which will inevitably be rigged one way or the other, by Labour or the Tories.

That's why the sensible option must be to vote for Ted Heath. Why? Because (1) He's a Tory, which will piss off Labour, and (2) He's not Thatcher, which will piss off the Tories.

The Newsnight poll is here. Go go go!

  1. Despite being a fat gouty Tory toff pisshead, Churchill has got to be a shoo-in. You can’t really argue with defeating the Nazis, though John Major’s decision to take Britain into the Exchange Rate Mechanism must run it pretty close………

Anyway I’ve voted for Teddy just to highlight the futility of polls like this. I put Clement Atlee second, purely on the back of a Derek and Clive sketch about wanking.
Was disappointed that Del Boy falling through the wine bar hatch wasn’t an option, it usually wins every other fucking poll.

  2. And he was quite possibly gay as well, so everyone’s a winner.
