Here’s a thing

I mentioned last week about the Mail's attitude towards the BBC. My theory is that they see the Beeb as direct (and unfair) competition, given that the BBC is funded by the evil state; and as the DMGT share price plummets, the attacks on Auntie will gather pace.

Anyway, have a look at today's news list at the Mail website and see if you can spot anything interesting:

Christ, I've lost the will to live just looking at the headlines. But here are just two stories on the news list:

Fury as BBC boss 'tells staff to lay off Labour'

at number six, and

Fury as BBC boss 'tells staff to lay off Labour'

at position 19. Just in case you didn't miss it, I should imagine.

And the story? Well:

The BBC was at the centre of a political bias row last night over claims a senior executive told reporters to ‘go easy’ on the Labour Government now it is lagging behind the Tories in the polls.
According to a well-placed source, the man in charge of BBC Radio 4’s flagship Today In Parliament told his staff that it was right to be ‘aggressive’ when things were going well for the Government but not when it was in trouble.
Some of those present were outraged by the comments attributed to Peter Knowles, editor of the BBC’s parliamentary programmes, at an ‘away day’ gathering in London.

Hang on, if the BBC's so biased, why does the idea of 'going easy on Labour' 'outrage' anyone? Although:

He was strongly defended by fellow managers. ‘It is absurd to suggest anyone would stand up and say, “Look, we should abandon impartiality and go easy on the Government,” ’ said one.
‘Peter did not say that. It is not a version of events that he recognises.’

But that's not the point. The foaming Mailites don't read those bits of a story. The headline, which seems pretty certain about what's happened, and the first three pars are enough to convince them that something has definitely happened, and they pile in with the usual bashing comments that the Mail no doubt laps up.

  1. The Mail is never biased about the government.

The Mail comments on articles are never biased.

No bias exists at The Mail.

  2. We hate the BBC so much we’re going to tell you twice!

It’s amazing how many mistakes you can find on the mail website. It’s like everyone’s paid to write but no one’s paid to read/proof check.
