A tiny bit of perspective
There are plenty of stories knocking about concerning a so-called 'monsoon' supposed to be hitting Britain (the south of Britain, obviously - if those northern wastrels, or, even worse, the Scottish, had been blown to bits by a typhoon then it might merit a two-paragraph news in brief) tomorrow.
We'll see if the coverage puts in perspective a few dislodged tiles, rainy roads and people walking along the seafront with umbrellas with 650,000 refugees and 90 dead in India; eight dead and 23,000 hit by floods in Chile; and 170 dead and thousands displaced in Haiti.
Those who pop up on messageboards crowing "Whatever happened to global warming?" might also like to be reminded of these disasters.
