Don’t mess with the troofers
One of the first things you learn on the internet is not to fuck with the troofers - not if you want an easy life, anyway.
To proclaim, for example, that 9-11 happened because several terrorists hijacked planes full of people and then flew them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon - based on the seemingly unimpeachable evidence that you saw and heard it happen live on the day - will get you in a world of trouble.
You don't realise at first that the real, hidden truth concealed by a shadowy cabal of Zionists, the CIA and men who are secretly lizards, is that passengers were flown to military airbases, where remote-controlled planes were then launched into the towers to create war on a global scale. Either that, or the towers were blown up by remote control themselves, with a series of thousands of charges having been put in place without anyone in the building noticing.
Seems simple in retrospect, doesn't it.
Anyway, George Monbiot's been on the wrong end of the troofers before, and decided to gently mock them with a spoof the other week regarding the cooling towers in Sheffield being demolished. Needless to say, they didn't see the irony and flooded him with complaints.
Bless.
(Clearly, I am an agent of the lizard men to dare question the 'truth'.)

I just can’t help but notice, Anton, that this post has been up for more than 9hrs and 11 minutes now, and you have managed the remarkable feat of not being deluged with dozens of persistent but not terribly bright obsessives who want to tell you about your role in the global conspiracy.
Is this some kind of record?

I am a bad person lacking impulse control, therefore I mess with Truthers fairly often, and applaud those who do similarly.
Fortunately, I’m not high profile enough for the Truther masses to rise up against, but I have the utmost sympathy for those who do. Noam Chomsky and Matt Taibbi, both hardly examples of bootlicking and servile commentators, have also been at the sharp end of Truther hate campaigns for daring to disagree. Its all very cultish, and quite sad really. You wonder what they might have achieved if they had set aside their foolish campaign and instead focused on, say, torture, or something that can actually be blamed on Bush.
Then again, given the pig’s ear they made of their pet campaign, perhaps its better off keeping them away from any campaign of importance.
