Simplistic and wrong
"It is simplistic and wrong to pretend that prison is an easy answer to all of society’s problems."
I'd admire that sentiment more if it came from anyone other than Jacqui Smith, who has - along with Jack Straw - spent a good deal of this year trying to pretend that prison *is* an easy answer to all of society's problems.
Tomorrow: Gordon Brown - "It is simplistic and wrong to think that by being more right-wing than the Tories that we'll get everyone to vote for us."
