you don’t get elected sounding “progressive on m.eastern geopolitics”! Let him get elected first, he has to beat McOven Chips who’ll entice Amurcns with his “tough stance” on security. The media will tear him to pieces if he looks “soft” on foreigners!
I expect more jingoism and rhetoric designed solely for the American public during the campaign – you shouldn’t take it too much to heart (yet!).

The rumours are already running that Bush is planning an attack on Iran in the coming months.
Of course, it all could be political grandstanding as a precursor to political talks, trying to set the ground for the Iranians accepting a lesser deal then they normally would…but it is equally likely it means bombing the shit out of Tehran, the Revolutionary Guard and any suspected nuclear facilities.
