You low expectation-having motherfucker

So, clusterbombs look likely to be banned by the British Government.

Two possible conclusions:

1. Our Government has realised just how terrible clusterbombs are; it just took them 11 years, and until such time as the worst of the hostilities in Iraq were finished, to work that out.

2. There's something even worse in the armoury now that renders even the evil of clusterbombs obsolete.

I'm going for 2 myself, but you never know. And seeing as our American, Russian and Chinese friends still want to use some of the most inhumane weapons ever devised, it doesn't really make a whole world of difference.

What amuses me, though, is how this decision is spun as some kind of humanitarian masterstroke and a triumph for the politicians, rather than simply the cessation of a barbaric and twisted policy to kill and injure civilians that they could have ended at any fucking time, but chose not to until now.

Seriously, what the fuck has Gordon Brown been doing for 11 years so that he's only just noticed that clusterbombs might not be quite be made of candyfloss and jam?

Speaking after 10 days of talks in Dublin, he said the bombs caused "unacceptable harm to civilians".
Mr Brown said he would now work "to encourage the widest possible international support" for the ban.

Oh, whoop de doo. He's going to try and encourage other people.

You're not *supposed* to kill, maim and destroy innocent citizens. You're not *supposed* to create ordnance that is attractive to children to pick up. Don't you fucking dare try and take credit for not doing that any more, and taking years to stop doing it.
