Here’s a thing…
...when you now visit the Express website, you're greeted by this little message (thanks to Andy for the tip-off):
I wonder why that might be?
It seems a little odd that the Express would 'revamp' their comments procedure by taking it offline completely; you'd think there would be some kind of forward-planning involved in such a radical move. And if there wasn't anything wrong with the previous comments system, why not just keep it going while the new format was being developed? It would seem to suggest that there was something so drastically amiss with the previous system that it needed guillotining straight away. Interesting.
Surely there isn't a problem with the thousands upon thousands of racist comments, anti-Muslim attacks and generally vile filth in the Express Have Your Say section, all whipped up by a series of predictable and repetitively obvious questions to shepherd the rabid readers towards a particular series of responses?
Or is there?
Are these comments being hastily deleted somewhere? Or are they being looked at by a third party?
We'll have to wait and see.

Strangely, there are still a couple of threads continuing where it was pretty much business as usual, although they did ban one of them for a rant about the imminent loss of the ‘blonde blue eyed child’ due to ‘genetic mixing’.
