The 24/7 news culture is slow to reach the Express
As I was listening to TMS on Radio 4, hearing England getting mullered by the Kiwis, I happened across this story flagged up on the front page of the Express website:
ENGLAND STILL ON COURSE FOR VICTORY
That's a little odd, I thought, unless...
Oh I see. It's from last week. Seven whole days ago.
I don't think the Express has quite got the hang of this internet malarkey. The idea being that you actually update things a bit more regularly than once a week.
Also on the Express front page: Brian McBride scored the winner for Fulham (last week), Emile Heskey helped Wigan to victory (last week) and the editor drones on about Ed Balls (last week).
In the 'Breaking News' section:

• Runaway Ronaldo...
• A Grand day out for William...
• Sven sets his sights on Hen...
• Aliadiere returns to haunt ...
• Defoe and James are just sw...
That's 'Last week's breaking news'.
So there we are. The Express: not just wholly unpleasant, but also an entire week out of date. That's some achievement for a website.
*edit* Although clearly the wise old heads at the Express knew in advance about England's remarkable turnaround in the second day at Napier...
