Human beings? Torture the scum! Poor little dog? Awwww…

A simple compare and contrast of comments on the Mail website.

1. US soldiers torture human beings

More renditions please, the Government should be proud to be co-operating with the U.S in the war against terror.
- David Wilde, Derby, England

So what, at least the USA have the guts to do something about terrorists, unlike the useless British government who gives terrorists a safe haven complete with full benefits.
- Bob, Lowestoft, England

What's the big problem here, people have lost the plot, I don't have a problem with terror suspects being transported to wherever to do whatever - give them hell- we're at war and the gloves are off.
- Dave Towers, Hamilton, New Zealand

We happen to be in a war situation and need to get information from terrorists rapidly. Due to a bizarre and collective local moral squeamishness, such matters have to be dealt with at a distance, requiring the use of aircraft to transport suspects for interrogation and holding.
- Bartman, London

America will do what is necessary to protect its citizens from the terrorist horrors such as 9/11. Every terrorist will be tracked and brought to justice.
Hard luck if you don't like it. These are not conventional POW's but ruthless terrorists such as the ones who perpetrated the July 7th train bombings in London and killed and maimed over 750 innocent civilians. Bleeding hearts could cry all they want. The US will do what is necessary to track these scum.
- Faqi, London, UK

What is all the fuss about? These people are a common enemy. I don't often say anything in favour of the USA, but we have to co-operate with them in the fight against global terrorism.
- James, London, UK

2. US soldiers torture a dog

I didn't want to watch the video because I know it would upset me but just hearing about it sickens me. I hope they throw the book at everyone involved - the sick individual who did it, the people who stood by and did nothing and the person who filmed it and put it online.
- Hollie, Cardiff, Wales

I am utterly disgusted by such deplorable behaviour. Absolutely inexcusable.
- Deb, W.Mids

That soldier should be executed for doing this to a helpless puppy. Shame on you.
- James Mills, Nottingham

This has made me feel physically ill. I hope the sick monsters involved are named and shamed and brought to book for their crime. Anyone who enjoys meting out cruelty to a defenceless animal is very disturbed and dangerous. I am also shocked it is still being shown on You Tube - surely it is not their policy to screen appalling incidents like this?
- L. Norris, London

These disgusting pigs are not fit to represent any other human being - what sick, twisted minds they must have - would you want them near you or your children.
- Moron Hater, Salisbury, England

These perverts must be named and shamed and no excuses made for battle fatigue. The puppy hurler looked pretty relaxed to me and obviously with too much time on his hands. The devil makes work for idle hands.
- Daphne Birkby, Alton, Hants

Just a single

There are numerous cases of American soldiers abusing Iraqi civilians, but nobody seems to care.
- Steff, Cardiff, UK

No, they don't; not if there's a cute puppy being hurt instead. Brown folk, Muslims, not convicted of any crime, no evidence against them other than bribes paid to informers? Torture is fine. Poor doggy? If you hurt it, you're evil!
