Presumed guilty – the hounding of Robert Murat

The front page of The Sun today claims this:

"MURAT'S MADDIE ALIBI BLOWN" - New witness at scene

You may recall me saying in 'When will this fucking Maddie madness ever end?' that I appear to be the only person in the world who hasn't suddenly remembered being in Praia de Luz on 'that fateful night'. But a new witness? Another new one? Where have they been hiding - the Moon? How come they haven't come forward until now?

TWO British sisters have revealed they saw oddball Robert Murat lurking by the Portuguese holiday apartment from which Madeleine McCann vanished.

I've mentioned before how calling Murat an 'oddball' reminds me of The Sun's (and others') relentless pursuit of 'oddball' Colin Stagg for the murder of Rachel Nickell, presuming him guilty until evidence categorically not only proved his innocence but implicated someone else.

And 'lurking'. Was he really 'lurking'? Do these witnesses say he was 'lurking'? Do they? No? Of course they fucking don't. They say he was just standing outside a bar, smoking a cigarette. But that won't stop the Sun subs from ratcheting up the inference of guilt though, will it. In their cosy little Wapping office, they couldn't give less of a shit as to whether an innocent man is hounded for a crime he didn't commit or not; their job is just to make it look like he did it, regardless of the evidence or the investigation.

Annie Wiltshire, 58, and Jayne Jensen, 53, told cops they spotted the 34-year-old ex-pat smoking a cigarette outside the Ocean Club moments after the search for Maddie was launched.

So let's get this straight. These two witnesses, who apparently haven't been bothered to come forward to the investigation until now - all right, I know and you know they've said this months ago but the Sun are just pretending that they're 'new' witnesses, because that's what tabloid scum lying bastards like The Sun do - saw Murat 20 metres from the McCanns' apartment, half an hour after the alarm was raised over the girl's disappearance. If he did do it, he's pretty fucking casual about it, isn't he?

Now. Seasoned watchers of 'Maddieballs' with me are waiting for Metodo 3 to pop their heads round the corner and say hello. Isn't it funny that whenever some 'new' lead comes out 'exposing' Robert Murat, Metodo 3 aren't far behind? Surely even the Sun's readers are beginning to wonder whether Metodo 3's job is to find Maddie or just smear someone else.

AND HERE THEY ARE! There's a fucking surprise, isn't it?!

The sisters recognised Murat the next day as he acted as an interpreter for cops. A source close to them told how a friend invited them to his apartment for a drink later the same day.

So, not 'new' witnesses at all. That makes the sub-head a total and utter lie, doesn't it. Again, not that the subs in Wapping give a fuck about what they're doing, apart from making a little bit of cash by having a new one ripped by Rupert Murdoch every single day for the rest of their lives. I imagine they go home and have happy, jolly lives, feeling fulfilled about what they do, not giving a second thought to whether they might be ruining someone's life or not.

"A source close to them". Hmm. Well if it was them, they'd just say 'them', wouldn't they? So I wonder who on earth could be responsible for leaking this story to the Sun, giving them a nice tasty exclusive on a slow news day? I wonder if there might be a little clue a little further along the story...? Ah yes...

But after renewed appeals for help by doctors Kate and Gerry, both 39, the pair decided to contact Metodo 3, the Spanish detective agency hired by the McCanns. And their story finally emerged yesterday.

I bet it fucking did. I bet it did 'finally emerge' after they got on the blower to Metodo 3. As I've said before, Metodo 3 claim to know exactly who took Madeleine McCann and are just waiting for the location to come through; they also claimed she'd be back by Christmas. And now it's New Year. Still, you can't have everything for all those thousands of euros, can you?

Jayne’s son Joe, who is in his 20s, told The Sun: “They feel their evidence is very circumstantial but realise it could be crucial when taken into the wider picture. They saw Robert Murat on the night Madeleine disappeared and they want to help. They decided to report what they saw. It’s not a question of having a go at Murat.”

I'm sure it's not a question of having a go at Murat from the point of view of these two sisters. But there are others who want to, including the Sun, whose involvement with Metodo 3 and the McCanns' PR department is a disgraceful anti-journalistic exhibition in tabloid smears, misleading and mendacity.
