Frothing hate

When a kid gets killed by a banned driver, you know there's going to be indignation about the sentence. When that kid is killed by an Asian banned driver, you know there's going to be a lot worse than indignation. Especially from the Hate Mail's readers.

A driver who spent only six weeks in jail for mowing down a three-year-old girl in a stolen car breached his five-year ban four times after he was freed, a court heard.

Mohammed Aqueel Hussain struck Levi Bleasdale as she crossed the road with her mother in September 2005.

Instead of stopping Hussain, who has never passed his driving test, sped off and left the little girl to die.

One thing to point out from the outset here: drivers who kill always get what can be seen as 'low' sentences compared to, say, murder, rape or armed robbery. That's just the way the sentencing structure is, even for the most serious offence of 'causing death by dangerous driving', which is in any event what most drivers who kill aren't charged with due to lack of evidence and difficulty of proof. A lot of drivers who kill end up at the local magistrates' courts, and magistrates' hands are pretty much tied, even when it comes to repeat offenders - even more so when there's a squeeze on prison places, as there is as we speak.

The Mail spits on its hatred:

Hussain, who had only a provisional licence, sped through the 30mph zone at up to 48mph in a stolen VW Golf, striking Levi, who suffered massive injuries and died the next day.

This comes from the Mail who've written about 'The great speed gun scandal', gone bonkers when a policeman was caught speeding, gone into apopleptic rage over the 'speed camera blitz' and said: 'Oh no! Here come more speed cameras'. The commenters on the articles talk about speed cameras as a 'stealth tax' rather than something that's there to save lives. Yet when someone actually does what those speed cameras are there to stop - speeding - they get all upset!

Hussain's conduct was not considered bad enough for him to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving, which carries a maximum sentence of 14 years imprisonment.

Instead, in February 2006 he admitted careless driving. But even with the offences of driving illegally, being in a stolen car and failing to stop at the scene of an accident, his sentence totalled 12 weeks in prison.

It contrasted with an eightmonth jail term given to a drug addict who stole a teddy bear from among mementoes left at the scene by Levi's family.

So there we are. He couldn't be charged with causing death by dangerous driving, as there wasn't the evidence. We don't even know whether the child and her mother walked out in front of the car, which happened to be speeding - the details of the incident itself don't seem to matter to the Hate Mail, or they might contradict the bile they're trying to spew, so they've been left out. So what should the police have done? Fitted him up? He pleaded guilty, but should the magistrate have given a longer sentence which would inevitably been reduced on a appeal, just to placate the tabloids? And what about the sentence given to the drug addict - was that really eight months for stealing a teddy bear? You're pulling my leg now. I have a feeling those eight months were served for something else, which neatly isn't mentioned by the Mail hack, just to ratchet up the hatred in its readers.

So let's see what the good readers of the Hate Mail have to say about this driver. Get ready for some strong meat.

Of course he got off lightly - he's an ethnic minority isn't he? These guys are the new 'untouchables' under this stupid Government.
- Mike Randall, Worcester England

Racist cunt.

The same thing happened in my town to another "Hussain", these guys get away with Murder.
- Tyler, Rochdale, England

No, not 'murder'. Killing someone in a car isn't murder. Do you see? Do you know what the word 'murder' means? But of course, because he's a bit brown-skinned, that must be the reason for the sentence he got. Yes, it's all a big conspiracy isn't it! Life must be weird in Daily Mail Land.

He should be cut up in small pieces and fed to the pigs.
- Les Blakeman, Lakenheath, England.

For careless driving?

Once again the judiciary have totally failed the victim. This driver is a murderer who repeatedly flouted the law, and why bother to abide by the law?
- Max Davies, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire

No, he's not a 'murderer'. Look it up in the fucking dictionary, you half-witted cunt.

And the wife of the " missing " canoeist is facing 10 years for trying to get rid of her debts. This animal should be punished the proper way, like Gillion Gibbons the teddy teacher would have suffered. The system is all so wrong and backwards. Please everyone, STOP voting for Labour.
- Jules, Birmingham

Yes, stop voting for Labour. That'll sort it all out. Funny, I haven't heard anything from any other political party saying they'll radically overhaul the sentencing for traffic offences to ensure that sharia law is applied. I must have missed that in the last Conservative Party broadcast.

If his name was say John or any other British name, he would be behind bars for yrs, think on.
- John, Clacton UK

You daft racist cunt.

This lowlife clearly has no remorse and because he is of Asian descent seems to have been treated with kid gloves. The indigenous population are constantly betrayed by both Government and judiciary and when Britons wake up and the backlash comes no one will be more surprised than those in power.
- Steve Parkes, Tipton, West Midlands

'Indigenous population' is the key term here. It's a phrase much beloved of the BNP and appears regularly in their literature. And no, there's no evidence whatsoever that the fact the driver is Asian had anything to do with his sentencing. But even if there isn't any evidence, let's just say that anyway!

If that was my child, this scumbag would pay. No matter how much it cost I would have him hunted down and shot. The laws in this country are a disgrace. This low-life, like many before him don’t take no notice of bans and still get in to a car and drive like maniacs. Alas, another young child has had their lives cut short and he has got away with it. He should have been put away for at least 15 years in my opinion, it is the only way people are going to learn. What about this little girl's parents, they will serve a life sentence. Makes my blood boil.
- Chris Nightingale, Watford, Herts

See, that is murder. Do you see?

Jobsworths at it again. This bloke should be deported! He would have got a longer sentence for not paying council tax, which shows the establishments priorities!
- Colin Perry, London

Deported to where? Britain, where he was born?

Certain countries in this world chop criminals hands off. Yet these people come here commit offences, similar to this, where this lovely little girl was cut down at the tender, innocent age of three, and this 'savage' walks free with the grace of our wonderful judiciary. I hope the next time the person concerned walks out, its under a bus.
- Marshfield, Salisbury uk

Where did he 'come here' from, then? Burnley?

And on, and on, and on. I've sifted through the hatred, so you don't have to. By the way, I actually think that people who kill when they drive should get tougher sentences - but it's not the magistrates' fault in this case; they're not allowed to give longer sentences. It's nothing to do with the guy being Asian, yet the Mail allows the racists to hijack the discussion as usual. It just shows that's what the readers of this shit-rag are really like - hateful, racist, wilfully ignorant, unthinking scum who will jump on board any story to try and pursue their agenda.

I feel dirty after having read that shit.

  1. Mail readers frankly frighten me. The levels of ignorance and prejudice seem to plumb new depths regularly. The most frustrating thing is that there is no requirement for papers to withdraw or follow up on implications that turn out to be groundless. The Mail particularly upset me in the summer. About a dozen scouts from thrid world countries went “missing” from the world Jamboree and the implication was that they must be doing a bunk to claim asylum. Now maybe they did, I don’t know, but I strongly suspect they haven’t because the Mail would have followed it up with more screaming headlines. What did happen was that they left their readers with the impression that this wonderful occassion that was all about international peace, co-opeartion and tolerance was just an occassion for more asylum seaskers to arrive. And their is nothing to force them to follow up and report that actually it never happened.

The facts of the story was that it was never clear whether these kids even arrived in the country, but why would the Mail allow facts like that get in the way of a good story particularly when they can have a good swipe at an organisation that stands for everything they hate.

I fucking hate the Daily Mail.
